Important reminders

Each passenger is allowed to carry ONE Small Personal Item not exceeding 40 x 25 x 20 cm (15.7” x 10” x 8”), and it must be placed under the seat in front. Some fare categories also allow each Passenger to bring ONE Cabin Baggage not exceeding 56 x 36 x 23 cm (22” x 14” x 9”). The total weight of Carry On Baggage, including Small Personal Item (and Cabin Baggage, if applicable) must not exceed 7kg (15.4 lbs.). Click here for more details.

Customers utilising our mobile or web check- in service are urged to arrive at the boarding gate with sufficient time to allow for document verification prior to boarding.

From 1 February 2023, Cannabidiol (CBD)  commonly used in products such as oils, gels and candies  will be listed as a dangerous drug under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (DDO) by the laws of Hong Kong. Anyone found to be in possession, consumption, trafficking and/or manufacturing are liable upon conviction to a maximum fine of HKD5,000,000 and life imprisonment. Dangerous goods, such as flammable liquids, corrosives substances, gas cylinders, are posing a risk to the safety of the aircraft and are not allowed on board, either as checked or hand baggage. Please refer to the list of dangerous goods for general information.

Security controls on the carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) in hand baggage by departing passengers are now in force at HKIA. In line with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the security restrictions for carriage of LAGs are:

    • All LAG items carried in hand baggage must be stored in containers of capacity not exceeding 100ml each. Containers larger than 100ml will not be accepted, even if they are partially filled.
    • Containers must be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag with a capacity of one litre or less, which must close completely.
    • The plastic bag must be presented separately from other hand baggage for inspection at the security point. Only one transparent plastic bag per passenger is permitted.
    • Any powder-like substances over 12oz or 350ml may only be carried in checked baggage. Exemptions may be made for medications, baby formula, or human remains however are subject to verification.
