Cheap flights and information

Busan is situated on Korea’s beautiful southern coast. The country’s second largest city, Busan offers a great mix of urban sophistication and natural beauty. Whether it’s a big city getaway with shopping, museums and fine dining or an outdoor adventure taking in the famous beaches, beautiful parklands or coastal hikes, Busan is a city that can fulfil the desires on any holiday wish list.

Busan has a population of more than 3 million people and the glittering skyscrapers and bustling shopping districts are a testament to the city’s thriving economy. Large department stores can be found here along with several other major shopping districts. Traditional markets still remain an important fixture in this ultra-modern city offering up everything from fresh seafood and produce to the favourite local dishes and popular regional cuisine. Busan is a city filled with culture and the arts and boasts some of Asia’s finest art, history and maritime museums as well as the celebrated Busan International Film Festival. Stunning temples with angled rooftops and colourful façades provide a rare look back at the region’s rich past, made to look all the more impressive when viewed from the modern day city. Busan is a place that embraces both its heritage and its modern identity.

Busan residents love the outdoors too. Because of its mild, subtropical climate, there’s no better place in Korea to enjoy the beach. Gwangalli and Haeundai are just two of the lovely beaches found here. Soft white sands, moderate waves and lovely seaside views make for a great day out while trendy cafes, restaurants and shops can be found nearby for a convenient break from the sun and surf. Other great outdoor activities include hiking in the nearby mountains or visiting one of the many nature reserves or hot springs.

Visiting the temple at sunrise or during a full moon is especially memorable as is a springtime visit during cherry blossom season.

The 118 metre high Busan Tower is located in the beautifully manicured Yongdusan Park right in the city centre. Hike up the hill or take the escalator near to the base of Busan Tower. As a popular beach and holiday destination, Busan offers excellent choices in accommodation. If you’re looking to be pampered, choose from beachside hotels or luxury resorts and spas in Haeundae. Much of the city’s nightlife can also be found here. Most properties offer both city and ocean views.

There are also motels, hostels and backpacker rooms near the beach in Haeundae but even here, reservations should be made as far in advance as possible, especially during the popular beach season or during the city’s famous international film festival. Moderately priced accommodation can also be found in the city centre.
