HK Express Once Again Ranked Amongst World’s Best as ‘‘Top 10 Safest Low-Cost Airlines’ by AirlineRatings

Awarded a Prestigious 7-Star Safety Rating, the Airline is the only LCC in North Asia to Achieve the Honour

For the fifth year in a row, Hong Kong-based airline HK Express is honoured to be named one of the ‘Top 10 Safest Low-Cost Airlines for 2020’, coming in with a “7-star safety rating” — the highest ranking possible — by AirlineRatings (airlineratings.com), the world’s only safety and product rating website. The airline is the only low-cost carrier in North Asia to achieve this important recognition. It’s a testament to the low-fare airline’s commitment to safety, world-class control systems and stringent international safety standards.

AirlineRatings’ annual report, which was unveiled on 2 January, 2020, analysed more than 400 airlines to shortlist just 10 LCCs. The independent and widely respected industry group based its ranking on several factors such as safety records, government audits, fleet age and operational management. As part of its assessment, AirlineRatings also considered safety evaluations conducted by International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).

This achievement caps off another strong year for HK Express, which celebrated several milestones in 2019. As of 31 December 2019, the Hong Kong-based airline flew 18 million passengers and over 110,000 sectors since converting to an LCC in 2013. In addition, HK Express is pleased to report an average annual On-Time-Performance (OTP) of 85.7%, an average annual load factor of 90% and over four million passengers flown in 2019.
